Georgia Football: Week 2 Report Card
Offensive Line: B
The offensive line, like Fromm, was good but not great against Notre Dame. The Dawgs were able to rush for 185 yards as a team but only averaged just over 4 yards per carry. Notre Dame only sacked Fromm twice the entire game so the pass protection seemed to be a little better than the run blocking. This unit is still finding its identity. Solomon Kindley, Kendall Baker, Dyshon Sims, and Pat Allen have all logged some playing time at both guard positions thus far this season.
The coaching staff continues to look for the best combination of the 5 players to play on the offensive line. Notre Dame has a big, physical defense and the offensive line held its own. The big thing that the coaches and fans want to see going forward for this unit is a more physical attitude and improvement in the run blocking. If the unit can accomplish those two goals, this offense will really start clicking.
One thing is for sure. The team blocked the best it has all season with Baker and Kindley in at Guard. We’ll have to wait and see if that lineup is able to grow together this season. It would be best for offensive stability if this team is able to find its top 5 guys.
