Georgia Football: Week 2 Report Card
Defense: A+
Georgia’s defense delivered the win against Notre Dame on Saturday night. Notre Dame only managed 266 yards of total offense against the Dawgs, including a mediocre 55 rushing yards. Roquan Smith played arguably the best game of his career and seemed to be all over the field. J.R. Reed led the defense with 9 total tackles.
Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy wreaked havoc off the edge all night and eventually combined on the play that sealed the win for the Dawgs late in the 4th quarter. Bellamy left Nore Dame’s best offensive lineman in the dust and blindsided Notre Dame’s quarterback, causing a fumble that Carter eventually recovered. Georgia will rely heavily on its defense this season.
The secondary deserves some respect as well. Dominick Sanders and D’Andre Baker had a few penalties but they did a great job shutting down Notre Dame’s receivers. The Irish have really good receivers so that is no easy task. JR Reed looks like a serious SEC caliber player and has been quite the find and we saw several Freshmen make big plays in Walter Grant and Richard Lecounte.
This unit is scary good and will give the Dawgs a chance to win the game every single week.
