11. 2011 SEC Championship Game vs. LSU

Easily the worst game Georgia has played in the Georgia Dome. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarterback which should have been more lopsided. The defense shutdown LSU’s offense, but dropped passes in the end zone kept the lead small.

The Tigers took advantage with a punt return for a touchdown by Tyrann Mathieu in the second quarter to cut the lead to 10-7 at halftime. However, Mathieu dropped the ball before crossing the goal line, but attention wasn’t brought to it until it was too late.

The momentum had completely turned in LSU’s favor at that point. They outscored the Bulldogs 35-0 in the second half. Despite only 30 passing yards by Jordan Jefferson, LSU accumulated 237 total yards. Most from running backs Alfred Blue and Kenny Hilliard.

Given LSU’s status as the no. 1 team in America, the Bulldogs didn’t have any reason to expect a great performance. But this was one game that Georgia fans were quick to put behind them.
