7. 2005 SEC Championship Game vs. LSU

In 2004, The Georgia Bulldogs avenged one of their losses to LSU from the year before with a 45-16 squashing of the Tigers in Athens. But Georgia would have to wait another year to complete the revenge when they met the Tigers in the 2005 SEC Championship.

LSU had won 10-straight games after opening the season with a loss to Tennessee and were favored over the two-loss Bulldogs. But D.J. Shockley had one of his best nights with three total touchdowns including a couple TD passes to Sean Bailey.

The defense forced two turnovers and totally shut down the LSU offense to help Georgia win the SEC Championship 34-10.

Winning a championship was the perfect way to end Shockley’s time in Athens. He earned the bulldog Nations respect by sticking around and patiently waiting behind Greene. He earned their admiration with his play as a backup in his redshirt-freshman and sophomore seasons. But he became a Georgia legend in 2005 by leading the Bulldogs to their twelfth and last SEC Championship.
