5. DB DeAngelo Gibbs:

Gibbs certainly has the look of someone who should make an impact. He’s not built like the average freshman and already looks like a guy in his Junior or Senior year. That being said, Gibbs is still getting used to playing in the secondary having really shined at receiver while he was in high school.

He could end up as a safety playing alongside Richard LeCounte but this season, Gibbs has seen more time in the star position. His size and explosiveness there mean that he’s able to match up against tight ends as well as quick receivers. He needs to work on his tackling and positioning but this should be a good opportunity for him to do just that.

He saw the field a bit against App State and this should be an opportunity for him to do so again. Gibbs is one of those players who could be a multi year impact player at UGA if he learns how to play the position. He has great coaches in Mell Tucker and Kirby Smart and this should be a chance for him to progress.

One thing is for sure if he gets the chance to make a pick, look out. If he gets his hands on the ball, he’s got the mitts to catch it and the moves to take it the distance.
