4. OLB Walter Grant:

I’m feeling a little smug right now about my preseason prediction regarding Walter Grant. After just two games, he looks like he’s going to be a player. Kirby Smart has been asked questions about Grant ever since Chauncey Manac choose to leave. It seems that Grant has really stepped up and shown the staff how good he can be.

He’s flashed whenever he has been on the field and that’s what makes this week so exciting for him. Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy are both going to play a lot this year. If they keep playing like they did last week then that will be well deserved. It means that games like this weekend will be a chance for Grant to see the field. If Georgia is able to get up by enough points early, then Carter and Bellamy will be given a rest.

Grant is said to have great football intelligence and he clearly has the physical tools. He was a player Alabama was very interested in and his commitment to UGA was a bit win for the Dawgs. Every snap will be a learning experience for him and it would be great to see him continue to progress this week and maybe make a few more big plays.
