The second full week of College football action is in the books. Georgia football was victorious. But what about everyone else on the Bulldogs schedule?

As weeks go by, we learn more an more about each team on the 2017 Georgia football schedule. What wasn’t apparent in week one becomes known in week two. You begin seeing who deals with adversity best, whose defense is paper then, and who are legitimate contenders.

I’m still waiting to see more out of some of these teams. Other teams already have clear identities. We’ll be going through much of Georgia’s remaining schedule excluding Samford and Florida. Observations on Samford can be read in the preview of that game. And Florida did not play so there wasn’t anything to observe.

The other Bulldogs are pretty good on offense

Third and goal from their own seven-yard line. Sounds odd to say, but that’s what Mississippi State’s defense faced Saturday against Louisiana Tech. However that’s important because it kept Mississippi State from allowing Louisiana Tech to score 28 points.

That’s a lot for a non-conference opponent and shows why some considered the game a likely upset. But that upset didn’t happen because they scored 57 points en route to a 57-21 victory.

Clearly, the maroon Bulldogs have a pretty good offense, which is to be expected with Dan Mullen as head coach. He’s an offensive genius and a good developer of talent. But they appear to be lacking on defense in many areas.

And that third and goal from 93 yards out showed that. Mississippi State’s defenders never thought to just dive on the ball. Instead they kept trying to scoop and score which led to the ball rolling and bouncing 90 yards downfield. They couldn’t even recover the fumble.

But that offense though. Georgia’s defense is a much tougher and meaner brand of Bulldog than Louisiana Tech’s. And Georgia’s offense has more talent, plus the game is in Athens. This doesn’t look like a Mississippi State team capable of knocking off the Bulldogs. But don’t put anything past Dan Mullen.
