Georgia football: Observations of opponents after week two
South Carolina is a vastly better team from 2016
Steve Spurrier did not leave Will Muschamp with a good team in 2016. Offensively and defensively, the Gamecocks started last season as a pretty bad ball club. But they finished the year playing really well and they already look like a different team in 2017.
In their season opener, despite being outplayed, they were resilient in a 35-28 win over North Carolina State. Deebo Samuel is a dangerous return man and defense has a few flaws. But against the right offense, they play like a solid unit.
They have a chance to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the SEC East this week with a win over Kentucky (Who we’ll get to later).
