Week three of the 2017 College football season has begun. Here are some of the games, Georgia football fans can enjoy watching this Friday and Saturday.

For the third straight week, Georgia football is playing at night. One one hand, this means another week of missing a few of the marquee games on the full schedule. On the other hand, this means Georgia fans will have a six hours to watch all the games they want. Fans going to the game can even watch College Gameday or SEC Nation without having to get in a hurry.

This week’s schedule doesn’t feature as many major games as last weeks, but that doesn’t mean football fans are subject to a bunch of snooze-fests. So here are some of the best games this weekend for Georgia football fans to watch.

Friday

If you’re like me, your Friday’s are spent on high school campuses watching a different brand of football. But if you don’t have a high school team to watch, the college schedule has you covered.

7:00 – Illinois at. no. 22 South Florida

The Bulls return to action after cancelling last weeks game because of Hurricane Irma. They’re considered a dark horse contender for a spot in the playoffs out of the American Conference. A win over a Big 10 team, even one as mediocre as Illinois will help their case.

10:15 – Arizona at Texas-El Paso

This isn’t a special game at all, it’ll just be the only game live on TV at this time. Arizona is a potential challenger for the Pac-12 South, but even that’s a long shot.

Saturday

11:00 – College Gameday and/or SEC Nation

There’s no better way to begin a day of college football than by watching one of ESPN’s on-site shows. Gameday will be in Louisville for a top-15 match-up between the Cardinals and Clemson Tigers. SEC nation will be in Starkville for the Mississippi State vs. LSU game.

12:00 – no. 9 Oklahoma State vs. Pittsburgh

There are three games at noon featuring teams in the top-25, but this is the biggest one. The Cowboys are trying to get over the hump, win the Big 12 and play for a National Championship. Pittsburgh might not be the powerhouse they were 40 years ago, but they’re still a formidable opponent and one the Cowboys dare not overlook.

3:30 – no. 23 Tennessee at no. 24 Florida

As a Georgia fan, only one game should have your attention at 3:30. That’s undoubtedly the top-25 meeting between two bitter rivals that also have bitter rivalries with us. The Gators will be looking to avenge their loss to the Volunteers from 2016 that snapped their 11-game win streak.

Florida is also trying to keep their control of the SEC East. After a disappointing recruiting class and a crushing loss to Michigan. They’re spot in the SEC Championship is in doubt. Tennessee is playing to keep their coach Butch Jones from getting fired. There’s is a program that might have missed their chance to win the East last season.

Both have one goal within the SEC East, and that’s to win the division and head to that shiny new stadium in Atlanta. A win over the other will be a confidence builder while a loss could prove devastating.

7:30 – Samford at no. 12 Georgia

Of course, at 7:30 the attention switches to our game, a surprising night game with the Bulldogs of Samford University in Homewood, Alabama. The Tennessee vs. Florida game might not be over by 7:30 so hopefully your television has some sort of split screen or picture-in-picture.

If not, now might be the time to install the CBS Sports app on your smart phone or tablet. Or you could go old school and just wheel another TV into your living room or wherever you are watching football.

Georgia should win this one easily. The offense might not be scoring much, but they’ve definitely in other areas. The defense however, will keep this game from ever being competitive.

10:30 – no. 19 Stanford at San Diego State

After Georgia gets finished stomping Samford, there are two games that Bulldog fans might be interested in. First, no. 19 Stanford looks to bounce back from last weeks loss to USC with a trip to San Diego. But the Aztecs aren’t a push over, they’ll test Stanford and have the potential to end the Cardinal’s playoff hopes before they begin.

10:30 – Ole Miss at California

The second 10:30 game for Georgia fans is the last SEC game of the night . Those Hotty Toddy Rebels travel all the way to Berkley, California to play a team that for some reason they share a mascot with. I’m sure their’s a politically correct joke about Berkley there somewhere, but I’ll let you all come up with that one.

Ole Miss is going through a rough patch. The previous head coach brought shame to the program. You have to feel bad for those fans who have gone without high quality football for so long. They finally get it, and Hugh Freeze happened. But a win over 2,000 miles from home will be sweet for those fans and that program.
