Chubb finally got his 100 yards this season. He only carried the ball 16 times, but considering the opponent, 16 carries for 131 yards with two touchdowns is not anything to complain about. Chubb proved that he’s 100 percent. Both of his touchdowns were highlight film plays and he broke a few more big runs.
The big surprise however was D’Andre Swift. We saw a bit of his potential last week against Notre Dame. But with Sony Michel injured, he was asked to step to be the no. 2 tailback and he filled that job masterfully.
Swift had nine carries for 54 yards. He got a big pop from the crowd on his third quarter touchdown. After picking up a few yards, he appeared to be contained by several Samford defenders. But he cut back to his right with a tight spin move before running over a defender at the goal line to score.
Brian Herrien and Elijah Holyfield also had good games with nine carries for 45 yards and eight carries for 28 yards respectively. Even Prather Hudson came in and looked pretty good. This is the kind of games fans expect from the running game.
