Georgia Football: 5 Takeaways from Samford Game.
Freshman Swift continues to impress.
Chubb was not the only running back to impress on Saturday. D’Andre Swift seems to have been in a lot of our write-ups so far this season. There is a reason for that, he’s made flash plays in every game so far. With the game in hand and Michel sitting out, we got to see a bit more of Swift this past week.
He did not disappoint. While we didn’t see a repeat of his big time 40 yard gain against ND, he did have an impressive game. He had 10 touches for 64 yards and his first touchdown of his UGA career. And what a touchdown it was. He pulled off a full 360-degree spin in the red zone to beat 3 defenders before trucking a guy. Yeah, he’s a real player.
With Michel returning this week, we are unlikely to see quite so much Swift this weekend. That being said, he continues to show why coaches have to get him touches every week. He probably isn’t going to see 10 touches in a SEC game, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him get 5 or 6. He has clearly shown that he’s capable of getting a big 1st down or more importantly make a big game-changing play.
