Nick Chubb: A

Again, although it was against Samford, Nick Chubb had an excellent game last week. From watching in the stands, it seemed to me that Chubb has truly gained back some of his speed and quickness that he lost after his knee injury in 2015. Chubb showed excellent power and vision as he racked up 131 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Chubb’s workload so far this season has been relatively light. He is only averaging 15 carries per game through the first 3 weeks of the season. That is partly due to Georgia’s immense depth at running back but also may be because the coaches want him fresh and rested as the Dawgs get into SEC play this season. His combination with Sony Michel will be crucial for the Dawgs to win big games this season. Michel sat out the Samford game and will be itching to get back on the field in week 4.

Chubb will face his first SEC defense of the year on Saturday against Mississippi State. If UGA’s offense can move the ball, look for him to get closer to 20 touches. UGA will want the ball in his and Michel’s hands as much as possible. Coaches, fans, and NFL scouts will be watching him closely to see how he performs against a highly talented SEC team now that he is back to 100%.
