Building up the trenches.

One of the things that Fields has to like is the offensive line UGA is building. Georgia has both Jamaree Salyer and Trey Hill in Athens this weekend. They are the #1 and #2 ranked guards in the nation in this yeards class. Salyer is the highest ranked lineman in the nation in 2018 and if he were not a guard, might actually be the overall top player.

Both players have ties to UGA in the form of Andrew Thomas and Jake Fromm, two freshmen who played lights out last week. Salyer and Thomas are very close and Thomas can fully sign off on how Sam Pittman uses his line and makes them better. Hill protected Fromm in high school and it has to be good for him to see his guy growing as a passer in his freshman season in this offense.

Georgia was also pushing with several defensive linemen as well this week. It had longstanding Florida State commit Robert Cooper in town. Cooper is the best DT in Georgia this year and a massive man would fit perfectly at the nose. He’s been committed to FSU for some time but Georgia will be hoping to pull the flip here. Cooper would be the perfect addition to Devonte Wyatt and Tramel Walthour in this year’s class.
