Kirby Smart’s recruiting culture is a game changer.

After what was a pretty huge recruiting update to write, one thing is pretty clear to me. This is not the same Georgia Bulldogs. Kirby Smart has brought a completely different culture to the program and that includes recruiting.

Kirby is a clear believer in the Alabama method of recruiting. That is, that you want the best players, at every position, every year. You don’t ignore a 5 star QB because you already have 2 on campus. Nope, you push and try and bring him in and see if he can take their jobs. If he doesn’t it will be because the current guys rise to the challenge and get better. If he does, then awesome, he beat out the best.

That blueprint, the geographical advantages of being in Georgia and the improved play we are seeing from the 2017 team puts UGA in a position to become a football powerhouse again. It’s pretty simple, but traditionally in college football, the best teams have the best players and Kirby has changed UGA’s culture. Top 5, top 10 classes won’t cut it anymore. He wanted the no.1 every single year.

It all makes for an exciting time to be a Georgia Bulldog fan. While it’s still far too early to say that Smart has built the program to where fans want it to be, the vision and path are pretty clear. That’s not something a lot of college football teams can say these days. Yep, it’s going to be awfully fun to be a Bulldog going forward…
