More talent to come this season.

Kindley and Thomas are not the only young players we could end up seeing this season. Ben Cleveland is another redshirted freshman like Kindley who could force his way into the lineup this year. Cleveland has seen his position move several times but he’s currently pushing at guard on the 2nd team.

I’ve been a long time supporter of Cleveland, particularly at guard. I’m not sure if he’s as good as a tackle as Thomas, but his size and strength would make him a perfect player in the middle. I really think that if he ever figures out how to leverage his body and get low, he’s going to be a monster. They just don’t make people with his sort of size and movement very often and that’s why he could be a difference maker.

Cleveland is very young and is still only 19. He has continued to get better this season and that’s a really good sign. I’m hopeful that he will find a way to take Baker’s spot and in doing so give the line some real size and strength. That is one possible way that this unit can continually improve as the season goes on. He could also see some time if Kindley misses some with his injury, which would give him a good chance to develop over the next few weeks.
