Week four of the 2017 Georgia football season is over and once again, the Bulldogs came out looking like the best team in the SEC East.

This college football season just keeps getting better. After an emphatic win over Mississippi State, Georgia football climbed into the top-10 in both the Associated Press and Coaches Poll for the first time this season.

And while that doesn’t seem like a big deal after just four weeks, getting to the top of the polls mean we won’t drop too far in case we do lose a game in the regular season. It may be the difference in a top-for finish and a finish outside of the top-four.

But that’s still months away. Until then, we can look and see how everyone on Georgia’s schedule is faring so far in 2017. As always, this weeks opponent is excluded from this list because a full breakdown of them will be published later this week.

Vanderbilt gets sent back to reality

I’m sorry Vanderbilt. I hyped y’all up so much and even went as far as saying Alabama couldn’t blow y’all out because of your defense. But in my defense, y’all didn’t have to call out Bama after beating Kansas State.

The Commodores were exposed on every level. Sure they have a great defense, but they don’t have depth and that’s what Alabama’s offense exploited. Early on, Vandy had some success against Jalen Hurt’s and rest of the offense.

But, Vanderbilt had no success on offense. The turnovers and quick three-and-outs put a tired defense on the field against Alabama’s offense. The running game was unstoppable, Vandy couldn’t catch Hurt’s. The game was just a total disaster.

With a few more first down’s early and more ball control, the Commodores may have kept the game somewhat close. But clearly, their lack of depth was going to do them in eventually.

Vanderbilt has a different style of opponent this week in Florida. The Gators are vulnerable after learning that many of their suspended players are facing felony grand theft charges. They also needed defensive meltdowns by opponents to win games on touchdown passes that were much easier than they should have been.
