Georgia football played its most satisfying game in a long time Saturday afternoon with a 41-0 rout of Tennessee.

I think we all expected Georgia football to win. They came in as the better team and appear to be a more stable program. What wasn’t expected was the methodical, precise decimation that lasted for four quarters on every area of the game.

Georgia’s offense looked unstoppable, the defense was impenetrable, and the special teams were aptly named. But within those group efforts, some individuals had spectacular games. And we’re going to recognize those individuals here.

Sam Pittman and the offensive line

Early on, the offensive line didn’t play that well. In fact, they played like the offensive line we expected to see back in August. But going into Saturday’s game, Pittman’s unit was playing very well.

In the first quarter against Tennessee, the offensive line struggled. Chubb and Michel didn’t have much room to work and Fromm was the victim of a blind-side sack.

And then Pittman said something to that unit in the second quarter. I don’t know what he said, but whatever he said resonated with the unit. From then on, they dominated the line-of-scrimmage. Chubb and company rushed for 294 yards, Fromm stayed on his feet besides a pair of first down runs. The game belonged to them for the rest of the afternoon.
