The Case for Jacob Eason:

Well, he won the starting job in the offseason. Eason never had the chance to play poorly enough to actually lose his job in the opening week. He was injured on just his 3rd series and we have barely seen him play at all this season. Right now, a lot of fans are assuming that Fromm is better than Eason because they haven’t seen the latter this season.

From a physical talent standpoint, it’s hard to argue with Eason. The guy looks like an NFL QB and has a rocket for an arm. The 3 extra inches he has in height over Fromm gives him the ability to see over our line better as well which might be why he was so much better at finding tight ends last year. It can’t be forgotten that the coaches choose Eason this offseason to lead this team. Is he worse just because he was injured?

Lastly, and this might upset some, but are we sure Fromm is that good? Yes, he has led the team to wins, but has he really done that much in those games? He is playing on a far better team than Eason did in 2016, with a better line and more weapons. He also has the benefit of a lights-out defense that has bailed him out a few times after he has made mistakes.

In his first 5 games, Fromm has thrown the ball 84 times compared to 151 times for Eason last season. It’s pretty safe to say that this 2017 team isn’t leaning on its QB right now to win it games. That’s something it sure as heck did last year and there were games where Eason looked like a star.
