Why this matters:

Georgia is having a great year. The defense looks like it could be dominant and the offense looks better than it has in a few years. There are clearly weapons all over the field for the dawgs and the offensive line looks like it is improving. In short, this is a really talented UGA team and it has a chance to do something really special.

The dawgs, therefore, owe it to themselves to get this decision right. As of right now, the dawgs are yet to find themselves in a situation where they have needed their QB to step in and win them a game. The rest of the team has stepped up time and again to make sure that has not happened. But that time is going to come this season. Whether it’s against Florida, Auburn or possibly Alamaba in Atlanta, the dawgs are going to eventually need to put the game on their QB’s back.

When that happens, they need to have the right guy in there. They will not have time to realize that they need to make a change then. One bad drive in the clutch and you could be hanging a loss that ends your season. Add in the fact that team chemistry is important and it’s easy to see why this is a tough decision. Fromm has taken the team this far, the team will believe in him because of that.

This is a delicate situation for a lot of reasons. It’s also the kind of decision that separates good from great coaches. The great ones are able to not only make the right decision, but they ensure that the whole team is on the same page.
