South Carolina loses again

Not that long ago, I was praising Muschamp and hyping the Gamecocks as SEC East contenders. They were even my personal favorite to finish second in the East. But losing their best player and scorer has sent them on a downward spiral.

For the third straight week their offense was almost non-existent against Texas A&M. However, Jake Bentley had a decent day passing with 256 yards and a pair of touchdowns. But he was sacked seven times for -46 yards. That cancelled out a decent game by Ty’Son Williams who had 73 yards on only 14 carries.

The Gamecocks appeared to be in control of the contest with a 17-7 lead late in the third quarter. And then the Aggies scored 17 unanswered points to win the game 24-17.

The injury to Deebo Samuel is proving to be too much for South Carolina to recover from, while the defense just doesn’t have the depth to last 60 minutes against good offenses.
