Jarrett Stidham redeeming himself

After looking like a disappointment early in the month, Jarrett Stidham and the Auburn Tigers now look like legitimate contenders in the SEC West. Once again, the Iron Bowl will likely be the deciding game in that division.

But of course, Georgia should take some credit for Auburn’s dismantling of Mississippi State. Auburn shutdown Nick Fitzgerald and the Mississippi State offense much like Georgia did. Although it should be noted that Georgia kept the other Bulldogs out of the end zone and allowed 70 less yards than Auburn did.

Auburn versus Mississippi State was also more competitive going into the fourth quarter than Georgia versus Mississippi State was. The Tigers led 28-10 after three quarters before scoring 21 in the fourth. Georgia led 31-3 and had effectively put the game away with a touchdown midway through the third quarter.

Or maybe I’m being too hard on Auburn. But I want to see them crush a quality opponent and I want to see them crush a team that isn’t coming off a blowout loss. This week they play Ole Miss hot off a 66-3 loss to Alabama. Then they play LSU after they play Florida. Once I see that, I’ll start buying into their hype more.
