Georgia Tech dominates North Carolina

I didn’t want to believe the Georgia tech hype in the off-season but this does appear to be Paul Johnson’s best Yellow Jacket team. Ta’Quon Marshall might be the best quarterback to run his triple-option since Josh Nesbitt and the running backs are as good as ever.

After four games, the Jackets already have over 1,500 rushing yards while Marshall passing stats are pretty good considering his primary job is to run. That defense is pretty stingy as well. Since giving up 42 in the overtime loss to Tennessee, they’re only allowing around 11 points per game.

It’s hard to really compare them though since we don’t share any opponents besides Tennessee. Of course the Bulldogs shutout Tennessee 41-0 while Georgia Tech lost to them 42-41.

Next: Georgia looking for revenge against Vanderbilt

The Yellow Jackets are off again this week (their game with UCF was cancelled leaving them with an extra off week). But when they return, they’re second big test of the season comes in the form of a trip to no. 14 Miami. I’m sure Georgia Tech will love to play Mark Richt again.

No. 2 Clemson is two weeks after that. In these games, we’ll find out how good Georgia Tech really is. Are the ACC and playoff contenders? Or just another Georgia Tech team?
