Georgia Football got some incredible news on Friday when the nations top recruit and hometown QB Justin Fields committed to play in Athens.

Deep breathes Georgia Football fans. Things just got exciting! UGA goes into the weekend 5-0 and looking like a really great team in 2017. Those performances seem to have helped convince the nations top QB Justin Fields to come and play for the Bulldogs.

Fields is ranked as the best player in the nation and is a Georgia boy. He initially committed to Penn State last December but backed out this summer after a persistent attempt by Kirby Smart and his coaches to keep him home. That desire to play close to his family and at the same school as his sister seems to have won Fields over. It certainly didn’t hurt that he was able to see real improvement in the team this year.

Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney has done a great job with freshman Jake Fromm this year. While a lot of people thought that Fromm and Jacob Eason would scare Justin Fields off, the opposite seems to be true. Fields is a true dual threat and he knows he brings something different to Athens. The development Georgia’s players are taking this year is a sign of good coaching. That’s exactly what a talent like Fields wants.

Georgia is becoming a great place for QBs. There are already plenty of weapons and more coming. The offensive line is improving and there is more talent to come. The team is set up for Fields to come in and battle for the starting job right away and he certainly has the talent to do just that. 2017 might just be the beginning. It’s a good time to be a dawg fan guys. Yes, it is.
