Georgia football: Top performers from the win over Vanderbilt
Roquan Smith
With Natrez Patrick, Reggie Carter and Trenton Thompson out, Roquan Smith was without his biggest supporters on defense. That didn’t matter. Of course with Georgia’s depth, players stepped up to help him. But he was just as ferocious as always.
He finished with a team high seven tackles, four solo and .5 tackles for a loss. He continues to be the engine of the defense. It’s becoming more and more apparent that he is the best inside linebacker in the SEC and he might even be the best defensive player in the conference.
With performances like Saturday and every Saturday before this week where he’s making plays sideline-to-sideline, in the backfield, downfield, at the line of scrimmage, in the middle, he’s separating himself from other defenders in the SEC.

And now it may be time for the Bulldog Nation to begin saying our good bye’s to Smith because at this rate, he’ll be at least a second round draft pick. I cannot see him playing for Georgia football next year. He’s going to play in the NFL in 2018.
