Georgia Football getting Justin Fields is a sign of the times

This just feels different

Right now, everything feels different about this Georgia team. Whether it’s the players themselves sacrificing for the good of the team or the coaches going out there and recruiting. You just don’t ever get the feeling that they are going to fail.

Now that’s not always going to be the case. Even Alabama loses and nobody gets all of the players that they want. UGA has plenty of guys playing right now who Nick Saban was desperate to get his hands on. But it’s hard to remember a time as a Georgia fan when you have felt this confident, this calm about a team.

I don’t think we’re going to go undefeated this year. I certainly don’t think we’re going to beat Bama. But I can clearly see that something has changed in Athens. When we do lose this season, I certainly don’t expect a downward spiral. In fact, I think it’s much more likely we see a big-time backlash as the team goes into the following game desperate for revenge. There is a confidence level that these players have that I’ve never seen from UGA before.

Now there are plenty of leaders on this team who are going to be leaving at the end of the season. UGA is going to be sending a really talented bunch of players to the NFL in 2018 but I just don’t think it will matter. Those guys have set the template and the talent just keeps on coming.
