After each game, various players and position groups from the Georgia football team will receive a weekly report card from Dawn of the Dawg. How did the Dawgs do in Week 6?

Offensive Line: A+

The game against Vanderbilt was arguably the best game of the season for Georgia’s offensive line. This unit paved the way for 423 team rushing yards and allowed for 4 of Georgia’s running backs to score a touchdown in the game.

Jake Fromm was virtually untouched the entire game as the line gave him excellent protection. There were no starters in the game when Jacob Eason was sacked and stripped late in the 4th quarter, so I don’t give that play much significance.

Although the offensive line has played well this season, its toughest challenges lie ahead in Georgia’s schedule. This unit will be heavily tested against teams like Florida, Auburn, and possibly Alabama down the line. Being able to run the ball and protect Jake Fromm will be key to the Dawgs having a successful full season.

Running Backs: A+

Saturday against Vanderbilt was just another day at the office for Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. The two backs combined 288 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns.

Chubb also became just the 8th player in SEC history to have over 4,000 career rushing yards. With at least seven games left on Georgia’s schedule, it’s safe to assume that Chubb could end up 2nd in all-time rushing yards among SEC players, trailing only Georgia legend Herschel Walker.

Thanks to Georgia’s big lead on Saturday, D’Andre Swift, Brian Herrien, and Elijah Holyfield were all able to get some playing time and a handful of carries. Holyfield also scored his 1st career touchdown.

There’s a reason Georgia is considered by many to be “RBU” (Running Back University). With a solid group of 5 backs who could all legitimately start at many programs across the country, Georgia will rely heavily on this unit to carry the team for the rest of the season.
