Georgia Football is going to have to move forward over the next 3 weeks without it’s starting ILB with the suspension to Natrez Patrick.

There was no doubt that the Georgia defense lacked a little something last week. As good as they played against Vandy, they didn’t quite have the same fire we had seen in previous weeks. There were probably a few reasons for this. This wasn’t exactly a rivalry game and Georgia was expected to handle Vandy.

However, I think it’s also fair to say that the team looked like it missed several of the players who were injured for the game. Trenton Thompson hasn’t been exactly dominant this year, but he’s been a solid member of a great defensive line. Him being out meant that unit rotated less than it has previously.

The unit that seemed the most hobbled however was the linebacker group. That unit seemed unable to really rush the passer the way it has in previous games and they allowed several big runs against a Vandy team that had struggled to run the ball all year. To me, that was because Georgia played without Natrez Patrick and Reggie Carter. Both of them have been hugely important to this defense this year.

While Carter should be back soon, Patrick is suspended for at least 3 more weeks. So how can UGA make up for his loss? They have 3 very important games against SEC East rivals that they need to win.
