Holyfield shining when he gets a chance:

Were it not for Holyfield, there is a good chance that Chubb and Michel could have even better stats. Having looked great in spring camp last year, Holyfield had injury issues that caused him to fall behind Brian Herrien on the depth chart. A marijuana arrest in the offseason meant that he also missed his first game against App. State.

His play, however, seems to have pushed him up into the ‘closer’ role. While Herrien is the shiftier of the two, Holyfield has tremendous power and he’s quicker than people realize. He has started to see more time as UGA stretches away from opponents and he has played consistently well when given the ball.

We saw in week 2 that he also has kick return ability. His 90-yard return was brought back because of a penalty but he clearly showed what he could do. I expect him to continue to get touches, especially as UGA looks to close out games. His emergence makes it even easier for UGA to keep Nick and Sony fresh and that is something that makes this offense even scarier.

It’s so hard for defenses to stop these running backs when that rotation gets going. Their ability to keep bringing in fresh legs makes them a nightmare for tired legs.
