Javon Wims

Wims had his best night as a Bulldog on Saturday. He caught five passes from Fromm for 95 yards with his longest being a 30-yard reception. He made full use of his 6’4 frame against Missouri’s defense.

With Terry Godwin being pulled out of the game with a rib injury, Wims suddenly found himself as the no.1 wide receiver for the Bulldogs. His performance was once again impressive and he again proved to be a real find from the JUCO ranks. He and Terry give UGA legit weapons on the outside that can scare any secondary.

Wims has a great connection with Jake Fromm. His size and strength have made him a great go-to target. While he didn’t get a TD, his hard-nosed play continues to be rewarded. He remains a player to keep an eye out for every game and deserves a huge amount of credit for how much he has developed his game over the past couple of years.

This is a great story for Kirby to sell to recruits and his current young receivers. Had anybody ever heard of Wims when he came to UGA? If he keeps playing like this, I would say he has a legitimate chance to be drafted somewhere when this season ends. That’s a testament to our coaching staff as well as his commitment to getting better and his hard work.
