282.9 rushing yards per game

One of the biggest questions going into the 2017 season was how well could Georgia run the ball. With Nick Chubb and Sony Michel returning, and D’Andre Swift arriving as the no. 4 running back coming out of high school, the ability at running back was certainly there.

The doubt centered around an offensive line that was mediocre in 2016. So mediocre that no one thought we would see a drastic improvement this season. But offensive line coach Sam Pittman proved why the announcement of his hiring was met with high acclaim.

As a result, Georgia is averaging nearly 300 rushing yards per game. And it’s not like Chubb and Michel are the only ones driving the run game. Fans constantly find themselves impressed by Swift, Brian Herrien is a trusted back when he comes in and Elijah Holyfield has carved out a great role as Georgia’s closer. They’ve also gotten quality runs from Jake Fromm and Mecole Hardman.

No one can slow down Georgia’s running game, at least not for 60 minutes. Notre Dame came the closest, but the Bulldogs best drives in that victory featured the run game heavily. Tennessee and Missouri shut down the run game in the first quarter. But after that, it was business as usual for the run game.

Looking down the schedule, no one appears capable of shutting down Georgia’s stable of backs. The line just needs to keep blocking and the backs just need to keep running.
