Jake Fromm’s 9.6 yards per attempt and 170.4 passer rating

Jake Fromm found himself in a tough situation in Georgia’s season opener. Jacob Eason injured his knee in the first quarter and Fromm had to take over. But he’s yet to relinquish the starting position, mostly because of his efficiency.

Two stats that display that efficiency is Fromm’s yards per attempt and passer rating. Fromm is seventh nationally and first in the SEC with 9.6 yards per attempt. And his 170.4 passer rating is eighth in the nation and first in the SEC.

Fromm is clearly not the center of Georgia’s offense, the running game is. But the Bulldogs still need to be able to pass the ball. It’s up to him to prevent the defense from loading the box and he needs to complete passes for first downs in crucial situations.

He is doing both with stunning precision. 9.6 yards per attempt is almost a first down each throw. And that’s just per attempt, change that to per completion and each time he throws the ball, fans should expect a big play.

And of course, passer rating is normally the best gauge for efficiency. He’s not throwing many interceptions or incompletions. Receivers catch downfield, and the offense is always moving forward.
