Cameron Nizialek’s 43.7 yards per punt

One of the more underrated facets of this Georgia team is punter Cameron Nizialek. Any average beyond 40 yards per punt is considered good and Nizialek is averaging 43.7 yards.

This means that when Georgia’s drives halt for a three-and-out at their own 30-yard line, Nizialek’s punts are sailing to the opposing 26-yard line. With a fair catch or a quick tackle, Nizialek flipped field position.

He is keeping the defense in the best situations. There is almost always a long field behind the defense. That takes pressure off the group. They know one first down isn’t devastating so they’re able to focus and not worry too much about making mistakes.

If Georgia ends up locked in a low scoring battle where field position is more crucial than usual, I like the Bulldogs chances of winning because of Nizialek. Only four punters in the SEC average more yards, but only one of those punters are on Georgia remaining schedule (Johnny Townsend, Florida).
