Georgia Football gets another big win to help with recruits
Several Flip candidates were in town:
One of the things that some recruiting experts have been talking about with Justin Fields is that we shouldn’t just be looking at uncommitted prospects. Fields is a unique talent and guys want to play with him. He is going to bring people with him and there is a chance that he’s going to actually flip some guys from their current commitments.
This weekend, there were two main targets in town. The first was Robert Cooper who is the best DT in the state of Georgia in 2018. Cooper is committed to Florida State, but right now, he is a big priority for UGA. Trey Scott has a good relationship with Cooper and Fields was seen talking a lot to him during the game. He would be a big-time addition to this class. Weighing 355lbs, he’s the perfect fit for UGA’s nose tackle position.
Otis Reese was another flip candidate in Athens this weekend. Reese played with Aubrey Solomon in high school and is committed to following him to Michigan. Right now, however, UGA is trending with Reese. He has been to UGA for 2 games over the past few weeks and he’s been spending a lot of time with the coaches. He could be a great ILB prospect for this class and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him stay at home.
One thing is for sure, Fields seems to be working hard alongside our coaches to make things happen right now. That’s a really strong ‘ace’ to have in our back pocket. It’s also why I expect one or two surprises on the recruiting front over the next few months.
