Georgia Football gets another big win to help with recruits
Owen Pappoe and several Grayson prospects for 2019 in Athens again:
One of the big changes that we have seen since the season started was how UGA is trending with players from Grayson high school. Grayson is home to a LOT of talent in the 2019 class but it was a school that UGA struggled with for several years. Its former head coach was not a big fan of the Georgia program and often tried to steer players elsewhere.
When Georgia landed DeAngelo Gibbs last year, that was a sign that things were starting to change. Since then, several of the teams 2019 prospects have committed to FSU but those commitments seem to be wavering. RB Ronald Thompkins has already decommitted and several other players seem to be rethinking their decision.
The big ticket from Grayson, however, is Owen Pappoe. He was a highly rated guy before he was even in high school. Pappoe was selected by Nike to compete in their Opening event when he was still a freshman. That’s unheard of. He is an OLB in high school but could end up as either a safety of a Roquan Smith type of player in college.
Pappoe was considered an FSU lean for a long time, but right now UGA has serious momentum with him. He was constantly chatting to current 2019 commits Jadon Haselwood and Nolan Smith and even got a big hug from Kirby Smarts wife when he saw her. There is no doubt that the way Georgia is playing right now has got his attention and he can see something big happening in Athens. If Georgia can reel in a player like him, that 2019 class could be something truly special.
