Terry Godwin, UGA’s top receiving weapon:

When Godwin went down last week clutching his ribs, I must admit I felt terrible. Godwin has been a revelation so far this season. He has really lived up to the hype that Kirby Smart mentioned this offseason and more importantly, he has become a real leader on the offensive unit.

He and Javon Wims are the clear leaders of our wide receiving group. The rest of our players are young and inexperienced and Godwin especially commands their respect. Now Georgia has not been throwing the ball very much, but Godwin has played great. He has only caught 16 balls but has amassed over 20 yards a catch so far and 5 TD’s already. He has a legit shot at double-digit TD’s this season if he returns against Florida.

Fortunately, Georgia does have depth at this position although it is young. Mecole Hardman and Riley Ridley both stepped in and played well after Godwin went down. Both scored TD’s and that certainly helps UGA feel better about their offence.

But Godwin in a leader and the team will want him back. Whether he will play as much in Florida, I don’t know, but if his ribs are not broken, I fully expect to see him play. Even if he’s just being used as a decoy sometimes he could be useful. He has made so many big plays this season, he has to be accounted for when he’s on the field.
