Georgia football: If not Alabama, who should the Bulldogs want?

No. 10 Notre Dame (again)

Thank you Notre Dame for slaughtering Southern California. The better you look, the better Georgia’s win over y’all in South Bend looks. And that helps our status with the playoff committee when they make their first top-25 of 2017.

Having said that, the more Notre Dame wins, the more it looks like a rematch might happen at the end of this season. And that’s not a rematch the Bulldog Nation will shy away from. The Dawgs beat Notre Dame once. Surely, with a much improved offense, we’ll do it again.

No. 1 Alabama

If I haven’t already made myself clear, I think it’s a joke when Georgia fans are told that we should want to play Alabama. To win championships, Georgia has to beat the best and right now, Alabama is the best. Are we supposed to hold off on championship aspirations just because Alabama is at the top?

We beat no. 10 Notre Dame in September and no. 4 TCU in January. We’re not seen as cocky if we call out every other top-10 team. So what makes Alabama so special? Their 8-0 record against no one? Their best win is against a 2-4 Florida State team, and they barely beat Texas A&M. At least Georgia has already proven themselves against teams on our level.

Next: More reasons why we want Alabama

Look, we get it. We haven’t won any championships yet. We’ve done nothing to say that we will beat Alabama. We’re still a rising program trying to get to the top and remain their permanently. But that’s the teams goals, not a challenge they should be fearful of.

This nonsense about how Georgia shouldn’t want Alabama, all it means is that we should fear Alabama. I’m not afraid of Alabama and the team shouldn’t be either. The Crimson Tide are the measuring stick of all of college football. The Bulldog Nation is very interested to see where we measure up.
