No player is off limit for this staff:

Getting Cook is a sign of just how good this staff is. Dell McGee seems to have pulled in another top 40 player and UGA is on track for another top 3 class. Kirby Smart has built a staff of exceptional coaches. Not only are we seeing top talents being brought in, we are also seeing real development from those players on the field. Georgia isn’t just playing better as a unit, it’s very clear that it’s players have improved. UGA is likely going to have plenty of players drafted in 2018.

All of which has meant that fans are already starting to worry about some coaches leaving. There are several who could be in line for promotions and Georgia might not be able to hold on to them all. But Smart clearly has a plan and will have others in mind should he need them.

I fully expect most of this coaching staff to stay in place around Smart. Jim Chaney is a career coordinator and is happy there. I also don’t see Mel Tucker leaving unless it’s for a really top head coaches job. McGee, James Coley and Kevin Sherrer are positional coaches and the assistants most likely to get poached.

Next: No red for UGA this Saturday

All of them are great coaches and could leave, but there’s no certainty. Smart is building something special in Athens and so it will need to be a really great opportunity for them to leave. He’ll be given plenty of resources by the administration as well to increase salaries should he need to. One thing is for sure, Kirby has built a coaching group that can win any recruiting battle right now. That means there is plenty more talent coming to Athens.
