Florida and Jim McElwain could be in trouble:

As happy as Georgia fans are, those in blue are likely furious. It’s hard not to be after their team put in a listless performance. Georgia was great and they are a really talented team. However, at no point did it look like the Gators had any chance at all in Jacksonville. They looked beaten from the moment they went 3 and out on their first series.

The Gators have been stout on defence for some time thanks to Will Muschamp’s recruiting. McElwain was hired to fix the offence and that’s the problem. It’s never really clicked since he arrived but this year, it’s become even uglier. Felippe Franks was McElwain’s chosen QB to lead his offence. He looked absolutely lost all game and it’s clear that he’s not the answer right now.

Throw in countless false start penalties and the Gators look like a poorly coached team. They looked beaten in the first quarter and all of that trash talk and bluster was gone with it. Florida is in a tough spot right now. McElwain doesn’t look like the answer and his bizarre ‘death threat’ show that he’s clearly not focusing his program where it counts. They are however stuck with him right now and they are going to have to hope for improvement.

Their season isn’t totally over. They can still win out and make a bowl. FSU are even worse than them this year so at least there’s that. But right now, they look a million miles away from competing with their biggest rival.
