Georgia Football: Takeaways from UGA’s big win over Florida
Jake Fromm had a rough week:
If Georgia fans have one worry in an otherwise great game, it’s their QB. Jake Fromm came in being talked about as one of the best at his position in the SEC. But his stats have benefitted from his surroundings and he showed this week that he remains a freshman.
Fromm only attempted 7 passes all day and completed 4. He threw two really good balls, the first a TD to Javon Wims that was right on the money. The second was a great throw to D’Andre Swift on a third down that helped UGA move the chains.
Other than these two throws, Fromm looked rattled. He threw a poor interception at the beginning of the second half which could have changed the game if his defence has not stood the Gators up. Fromm also had two straight delay of game penalties in the 4th quarter. That’s something I have never seen before.
I’m not saying that he needs to be benched, but today should be a wakeup call for fans. Fromm is playing well for a true freshman, but he’s by no means the finished product. Talking him up as the next great QB isn’t accurate right now.
