Georgia Football coach Kirby Smart is having a terrific second season in Athens. Is his success going to send some SEC coaches out the door?

After another a big victory over his schools biggest rivals, Kirby Smart claimed his first coaching scalp. The Georgia Football team destroyed Florida 42-7 on Saturday. Less than 24 hours later, their head coach Jim McElwain was shown the door.

This wasn’t the first blowout Georgia have had against SEC opponents this year. The Dawgs destroyed Mississippi State and shut out Tennessee. They walked all over Vanderbilt as well although that was to be expected.

There seems to be a groundswell of movement in the SEC right now. Alabama remains the dominant program but Kirby has separated Georgia from the rest of the conference. Right now, those two programs look like they are on a collision course for Atlanta. The championship game awaits and the rest of the conference is playing catch up.

Few people expect this to just be a one-year thing. Yes, this Georgia team has great senior leadership, but Kirby is recruiting. His classes are getting better and better and few expect his teams to get worse. So how are other programs going to be able to compete? They might need to bring in some new coaches. Nick Saban seems to have been so good in Tuscaloosa that almost every SEC team has fired their head coach just to try and catch up. Could Kirby be doing the same thing in Athens?
