Butch Jones should be next:

The fact that McElwain lost his job before Butch Jones is surprising. Jones had by far the most talented team in 2015 and 2016 and yet somehow managed to lose the SEC East to McElwain and Florida. The guy has recruited a huge amount of talent into Knoxville, but he’s delivered no results on the field.

This year, things have really gone south for the Vols. Getting blown out 41-0 by Georgia is one thing. Losing to South Carolina at home and the Kentucky shows just how bad this team is. This week they had to play without their star running back John Kelly. Kelly was suspended after being arrested with Marijuana. That sums up Jones’ season really.

This year has been a trainwreck. The Vols are 0-5 in SEC play right now. Yes, you read that right, 0-5. Georgia’s beatdown of Tennessee isn’t the reason that Jones is getting fired but it’s certainly helped.

That’s because Smart’s success in his second season is showing fans that shouldn’t stick with Butch. The guy had his chance. He had two legitimately good teams and he blew multiple games he should have won. If he’d won those SEC East divisions, he’d be much safer now. I’d still think he should go, but at least he could point to some achievement.

Instead, this ‘champion of life’ is going to be taking his ‘5-star heart’ straight out of Knoxville,
