Not 1, not 2 but 5 running backs:

Running backs are often made to look better by their offensive line. Really great ones can make that line look better as well. Georgia is dominating on the ground right now because it has both. It’s line and receivers are blocking much better last year. It also has a stable of running backs that rivals anyone in the country.

When Sony Michel and Nick Chubb returned for their senior season, people were right to be excited. They have had illustrious careers despite injury setbacks, but there is no doubt that both look different in 2017.Chubb looks fully recovered from his injury in 2015. Michel has been battling a few nagging injuries this season but still looks impressive. What is clear to anyone is that these guys are being helped by the other backs UGA has.

D’Andre Swift has been a revelation. His explosiveness and ability to catch have helped UGA move the ball time and again. He has also allowed Chubb and Michel to rest more than previously. They are getting fewer snaps than before, but they are doing more with every one.

Elijah Holyfield has become just as important. He has come in during the fourth quarter and helped put games away several times. This again helps to keep Chubb and Michel fresh. Brian Herrien shouldn’t be forgotten either. While he’s had the least impact so far this season, we all saw last year that the guy is a gamer. All of these guys are contributing right now and that speaks volumes about how this 2017 Georgia team is different.
