3. “Polls don’t matter!”

Ok, here’s the part where I’m probably going to take some lumps and piss a few people off. I know that Kirby is telling the players and media this and that it’s probably the last thing they should be focused on. They should absolutely be focused on South Carolina. But here’s the reality of it…….as of the past Tuesday,  polls DO matter.

The College football playoff poll absolutely matters. This is what determines after the SEC championship whether we are going to the semi-finals of the playoffs with a chance at the national championship or going to a pretty good bowl game like the Peach Bowl or Cotton Bowl. So we can say “Polls don’t matter”, but they actually do now. I want to win, I do. I want Georgia to win every single game left on its schedule. But what if they slip up and lose one? What if we go 12-0 and then lose one against Bama? Wouldn’t Y’all still want a chance to make it into the playoffs?

I know I would. The way to have a shot in that kind of scenario is to keep winning in such impressive fashion that the committee continues to love UGA and leaves them ranked as high as possible. If we are #1 when we face Bama, we win and we are in. But if it’s a close hard fought loss we may be in any way.
