Each week, Dawn of the Dawg will release a score prediction for the Georgia Football team’s upcoming game. Here’s how we did last week:

Prediction: Georgia 41, Florida 10

Actual Result: Georgia 42, Florida 7

Georgia football is now the top team in all of college football according to the College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Tuesday night. The ranking is sure to add some pressure on the Dawgs and it will be interesting to see if the team can ignore the noise and “keep chopping” in the words of Kirby Smart.

Georgia takes on South Carolina this Saturday in Athens. The Gamecocks come in with a respectable 6-2 record but are not ranked due to a fairly easy schedule. Just like Tennessee and Florida players previously did, some South Carolina players have given the Dawgs some nice bulletin board material.

Most notably, the Gamecock players took a dig at Jake Fromm by saying “he can’t pass”. Fromm was one of the most decorated passing quarterbacks in Georgia high school history. Plus he leads the SEC in passer ratings and is highly nationally ranked in several statistical categories as well.

It’s not that Fromm “can’t pass”. It’s simply he hasn’t needed to much this season thanks to Georgia’s riches in the backfield. Then combine that with the fact that the Dawgs have blown out every opponent this season except Notre Dame.

I don’t expect Fromm to have more than 15 passing attempts Saturday because Georgia will do what it does best against South Carolina: run the football. While there are whispers this game could be a trap game for the top-ranked Dawgs, I see no scenario where Georgia struggles against South Carolina.

Georgia will effectively run the football against the Gamecocks. Georgia’s defense will shut down their offense as its done to every SEC opponent the team has faced this season. The only way they has a chance is if Georgia come out flat and make some mental mistakes. But with Kirby Smart at the helm, the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Prediction: Georgia 38, South Carolina 13
