Even this defense can have an off day:

While they only conceded 10 points, there was something about this defensive display that didn’t quite feel the same. On the first two possessions they stuffed Carolina and held them back, but after that, they didn’t look as ferocious as they did last week.

Jake Bentley moved the ball much more effectively than I initially expected. In doing so, he highlighted what is probably the weakness for the team right now. Stopping the pass. Coaches often think that a dual-threat QB is a matchup nightmare but ironically Georgia have shut those down this year. They have however struggled against top in-the-pocket passers.

Drew Lock had a great game against UGA even though it was a blowout. Kyle Shurmur from Vanderbilt played pretty well and now Jake Bentley had another solid outing. Georgia struggled to bring pressure against all three of these QB’s and they gave them the time the needed to pick apart UGA’s secondary.

Now Bentley made his mistakes. His two interceptions are one of the main reasons Georgia held them to 10 points. But he had a decent day and this is clearly an area UGA need to work on going forward. Georgia goes up against a very similar player in Jarrett Stidham next week and they will need to play better. They need more of a pass rush and the DB’s have to be tighter in their coverage. Auburn is a much better team than the other 3 Georgia faced and so they need to shut down Stidham.
