Rick Sandidge has a decision to make:

Georgia is in a battle for Rick Sandidge. The nations no.11 defensive tackle has a really difficult decision to make. UGA certainly made that decision even harder on Saturday.

Sandidge is a South Carolina native. He’s also a legacy there as his mother went to Columbus. He’s been seen as a lean to the Gamecocks for quite some time. A lot of insiders believe that the only game he would have attended in Athens is this one. That way he at least got to see USC as well.

The Gamecocks played pretty well. They certainly didn’t embarrass themselves and that will have helped with Sandidge. He can clearly see that Will Muschamp is doing a good job in Columbus and that his team is getting better. They played Georgia close and were scrappy.  He would be one of the highest rated players in SC’s class if he were to go there and that’s a big sell. Who doesn’t want to be a star, particularly in their home state?

But on the other hand, he also got to see just how good Georgia is. At no point in that game did UGA look like they could lose. They were in complete control and in some ways were in cruise control for most of the game. If Sandidge wants to play for titles, both SEC and national, it’s pretty clear what the choice should be.

Right now, I think Sandidge will end up in Columbus but Georgia gave him reason to think. This team is ahead of schedule, it was not supposed to be so good this early. With the talent that’s coming in, Kirby Smart is building something special. It’s going to be hard to turn that down.
