Otis Reese in Athens again:

Right now, Otis Reese seems like the likeliest candidate for a Georgia ‘flip’. The Michigan commit has been at the last three UGA home games this season and he’s always getting attention from coaches.

For a long time, it seemed like Reese was destined for Michigan to follow his good friend Aubrey Solomon. But Kirby Smart and his coaches have worked really hard to turn his attention and Georgia looks to be in a great position.

UGA’s linebacking group is going to see a lot of departures this year. Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy are definitely gone. Roquan Smith should be, it’s hard to imagine he could get any better and should be a 1st round pick. Natrez Patrick might join him, especially after his second suspension. That’s every single starter leaving and probably ending up getting drafted.

Reese is the kind of versatile athlete that could play anywhere in that group. Right now he’s an outside linebacker but he reminds me a bit of Patrick. He’s bigger than Roquan and so could fill that inside thumper/pass rusher role.

Next: Why the Dawgs needed a game like SC

Glenn Schumann and Kevin Sherrer have done amazing jobs at developing that unit this year. All of those guys have gotten a lot better thanks to coaching. Reese could do a lot worse than trusting UGA to help him reach his potential and I think that is the message that seems to be working with him.
