Alabama banged up in win over LSU

The Crimson Tide got snubbed by the College Football Playoff Committee last Tuesday. Instead of taking the no. 1 spot, the committee ranked them no. 2. That would make the Alabama players angry. Nick Saban can use that fuel to motivate his players.

Surely the Tide would take their frustration out on LSU. Everyone on ESPN was already feeling sorry for the Tigers. Alabama was supposed to win by at least four scores and they were going to take the no. 1 spot on Tuesday.

But that’s not what happened. Instead, Alabama won 24-10. The game was never in doubt, but the Tide didn’t really dominate. In fact, LSU shut down the Alabama rushing attack to just 3.2 yards per carry. And LSU sacked Jalen Hurts four times, but Hurts was still the difference with some timely passes.

The real difference was LSU’s lack of quality at quarterback and lack of an identity on offense. I mean, did you see anything Saturday that made you think Georgia couldn’t play with Alabama. LSU played with Alabama and they aren’t that good. They were overrated at no. 19.

Next: Georgia needed the South Carolina game

Jake Fromm is much better than Danny Etling. The Bulldogs have an offensive identity and a much better defense than LSU. If Alabama wants to prove that they’re the best team in the country, they’re going to have to do better than that. Maybe this week against no. 16 Mississippi State, a team that actually deserves heir top-25 ranking.
