Auburn raids Georgia again in 2013:

Oh, the 2013 class. There was perhaps no class in the entire of Mark Richt’s tenure that did more to harm his legacy at UGA. The state was pretty loaded with top-level talent that year. What made it so impressive however was the fact that Georgia has 3 5-star defensive linemen in the state.

It started with Robert Nkemdiche and we all know the lengths Ole Miss went to in regards to him. But it wasn’t just him that year. Georgia was also the home of Montravius Adams and Carl Lawson. Both of whom ended up shunning their home school to attend Auburn.

While Lawson battled injuries, there was no doubt that he was a force on the edge when fit. Adams was also a top level player who dominated often. Who could forget last year when he notched up 1.5 sacks against the Dawgs in a close UGA win.

In contrast to those two stars, Richt had a down year in recruiting. The top player in Georgia he signed was Trey Matthews who ended up (you guessed it) at Auburn after transferring. That 2013 class was a disaster for the Dawgs. It came in at No.12 but it ended up even worse. Most of that class had little to no impact in Athens.

The Tigers came out on top that year and took 2 top defensive linemen. The fact that they did very little with them in their final 3 years means nothing. This was one battle Auburn absolutely won.
