The Makeviest ‘Big Cat’ Bryant Conspiracy:

So now we get to 2017. And the tide is starting to turn. We’ll get into the Georgia wins that year, but first, there was another surprising decision. Markaviest ‘Big Cat’ Bryant was a silent commit to UGA for quite a while. He was often photographed with other players and although he wanted to announce his decision on signing day in February, he was someone that most had penciled into the Dawgs.

According to an interview in May, he told a very interesting story of what happened to Jeff Sentell of Dawgnation.com. He was initially committed to Georgia in January. Then he changed his mind 30 minutes before he announced at 11 am on signing day. Apparently, the issue with Georgia was that they ‘recruited him too hard’. Yep, you read that right.

There were plenty of rumors at the time that his high school coach Shelton Felton would also end up at Auburn which upset a lot of people. Unfortunately for Felton, the NCAA implemented new rules after this past signing day preventing that type of recruiting move. Felton is currently coaching at Tennessee.

This signing was always a bit fishy. It just felt off for a lot of different reasons. Bryant would have been a nice member of UGA’s top 3 ranked class, but he wasn’t crucial to it. He was, however, a big signing for Auburn who had an average 2017 class. This was a win for the Tigers and they really needed it that year, because things went quite wrong for them on other fronts…
